With pleasure, bookbarnkat studios announces a festival in celebration of marbling with world masters of the art from four countries participating in:
- exhibitions
- hands-on classes
- presentations on the history and art of marbling on paper, silk and other materials
To be held in various studios in Florence in the centro and Oltrarno. While daily schedule plans are still shaping up for this extraordinary time, here is the list of masters coming:
- Hikmet Barutcugil (Istambul) - Turkish Ebru marbling, including construction of traditional brushes (2 day class)
- Antonio Velez Celemin (Madrid) – Spanish and Modern style marbling (5 day class)
- Geert and Judith van Daal (The Netherlands) – Gold Tooling – Modern Techniques with Gold Leaf (5 days)
- Nicky Oliver (UK) – dyeing of leather traditional and modern techniques (2 -3 day class)
- Paolo Taddeo (IT & UK) – traditional and modern French binding techniques (5 day class)
- Dr. Jake Benson (USA & Egypt) – Persian marbling: historic techniques and recent discoveries (3 evening lectures)
- Tom McEwan (Scotland) – Creative Leatherworking and Decoration Techniques – Inlay, Onlay and Image Transfer (3 day class)
- Possibly two renowned marblers coming from the USA to teach hands on techniques
