IADA Oslo 2017- REGISTER - Formstack: ""From Generation to Generation - Sharing Knowledge, Connecting People”
International Symposium
Oslo, Norway
May 3 – 5, 2017
In 2017 it will have been 60 years since the founding of IADA.
It was an initiative of the archives to found an association of paper conservators. On the occasion of the "Archivtechnische Woche in München" (Congress on Techniques for Archives in Munich), on February 28, 1957, conservators working in archives founded the AdA (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Archivrestauratoren, association of archive conservators). Since 1967 the AdA has been known under the name "Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Archiv-, Bibliotheks- und Graphikrestauratoren", IADA.
The AdA, initially, focused on the following GOALS: a) Keeping up helpful bonds between conservators and their co-workers; b) promoting the new generation of conservators, guaranteeing continuing education on the conservators' side as well as supporting the exchange of experiences acquired; and c) representing the interests of the Group.
These goals are still valid and relevant 60 years later.
In Oslo, at the symposium "From Generation to Generation - Sharing Knowledge, Connecting People”, we would like to highlight the importance of preserving and publishing knowledge. In 60 years much has changed in the field. New technologies have been established and augmented traditional techniques. Since it is paramount for all to stay up-to-date, we will make sharing and preserving everything from the latest advances to the history of conservation the key topic at this symposium.
We hope you will join us and be part of this dynamic group of professionals.
