Position Description:

External Overview:

This position will be scheduled for 15 hours per week during regular business hours and is temporary through 6/30/2013.

External Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Collections Care Conservator, the Senior Page:

Assembles machine-produced protective enclosures
Sorts enclosures and packs for shipment to the shelf
Measures collection materials for enclosures
Inserts material in enclosures and shelves enclosures
Determines appropriate bibliographic information for materials and inputs data into online form
Retrieves and returns material for the Collections Care Lab
Cleans collections materials
Assists with basic material mending projects, including paper mending, tipping in pages or errata slips, creating pockets for accompanying materials, opening uncut pages, or creating protective covers using the Colibri covering system
Performs other related duties as required

External Qualifications:

Current enrollment in an approved degree program at an accredited educational institution
Demonstrated ability to work with a team and on independent projects
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to alphabetize and file
Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
Demonstrated computer skills, including the Internet and Microsoft Office programs preferred
