Lambeth Palace Library is the historic library and archive of the Archbishops of Canterbury and the principal library and record office for the history of the Church of England. The Library's rich collections focus on ecclesiastical history, but are also important for an immense variety of topics, such as architecture, colonial history, local history and genealogy.
We have two roles for book and paper conservators to work in the newly refurbished conservation studio set in the historic Morton’s Tower.
Project Conservator
£23,190 - £24,690 p.a.
Full time (part time considered)
15-month fixed term contract
Lambeth Palace
Assisting in undertaking the conservation of historic books (text blocks and bindings) as well as paper and parchment archives, you will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of procedures and materials, and keeping time sheets for each.
You should have a recognised qualification in paper and/or book conservation, along with significant post graduate practical experience. Excellent craft skills in book and archive conservation and good IT skills are essential.
