The Department of Conservation and Scientific Research is looking to
recruit an enthusiastic and motivated paper Conservator for six
months for a funded project. The main purpose of the role is to
conserve drawings required for a forthcoming exhibition, opening in
February 2013. Under the guidance of senior conservators you will be
prioritising the conservation of prints and drawings, and
demonstrating a commitment to the conservation, care and
preservation of the Museum's collections.
You will possess a recognised professional qualification in paper
conservation together with demonstrable practical skills and an
understanding of conservation theory and ethical decision making.
You will be required to keep an accurate record of work undertaken
and enter the data into the Museum's computerised record system. You
will be a strong team player with good communication skills and the
ability to work independently to deadlines when required. Ideally
you will also have some experience of working on prints and drawings
within a museum or gallery environment.
Due to the exhibition deadline we will require you to start as soon
